Testing services offered through our global network of laboratories:
Food: The division offers testing and consultancy services for all food matrices (including raw materials, semi-finished and finished products) to verify compliance with client specifications. Some of the analyses that can be performed:
Environmental: The division provides analytical services focused with respect to environmental laws for water, soil, sludge, fertilisers, compost, waste, industrial emissions and hygiene, electrical devices and radioactivity.
Industrial: Development of testing and consulting activities to help customers choose the most suitable analytical plan; performs highly specialised testing on solid bio-fuels, petrochemical products, construction materials, metals and alloys, polymers, rocks and minerals.
GXP-Pharma: Performs regulated activities such as quality control release testing of active pharmaceutical ingredients, medicinal products and medical devices, development and validation of analytical procedure, stress testing and stability studies, bio analytical part of bioequivalence studies, non-clinical health and environmental safety studies intended to support applications for regulated products, scientific and regulated support.
Cosmetics: Evaluation of the efficacy, safety and sensory aspects of products that come in contact with human skin. The functional evaluation of cosmetic formulations starts from the analytical phase in the laboratory through consumer testing. Click here for more information.
Textiles: Provide a wide range of physical-mechanical tests to check the resistance of textiles.
Detergents: Dedicated analysis of detergents to evaluate the efficacy of detergents for hand washing and machine washing, additives, etc.
Food Contact Materials: Verification of the suitability of all food contact materials in compliance with recognised GXPs, to exclude the occurrence of a health hazard or any other unacceptable change in the composition of food during intended use.
REACH & CLP: Training and auditing to ensure compliance with REACH regulated; managing of pre-registration and registration procedures; preparation of dossiers and CSRs (Chemical Safety Report), Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and extended Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
R&D: Research and Development activities for the food, environmental, packaging, cosmetics and pharmaceutical sectors. Silliker has five R&D centres (Contract Research Organisation) and they are situated in the United States, France, Brazil and China. R&D centres assist facilities with the development or improvement of new and/or methods. They can perform short or complete validation of methods, test new technologies, new materials and new ways of analysis.
Mérieux NutriSciences is now able to provide all these services to the South African and African markets. Laboratories with in the Silliker Network, that is known as “Centres of Excellence”, will be sourced by Mérieux NutriSciences to meet any/all of your testing requirements which cannot be met locally.
In addition to the wide-ranging tests on offer, Mérieux NutriSciences offers the following services:
Technically-qualified consultants can visit clients onsite to discuss/ interpret test results, demonstrate sampling techniques, assist with problem solving, provide hands-on advice and develop tailor-made sampling/testing plans (to satisfy your hygiene/GMP/HACCP/BRC needs).
Mérieux NutriSciences has a fleet of highly efficient drivers who will collect samples or deliver sterile sample containers to your premises in the greater Cape Town and Midrand areas. Sample collections from clients beyond these areas are maintained through door-to-door couriers.
Our drivers have been trained in sample handling procedures to ensure that samples arrive at the laboratory timeously and at the right temperature. Each car is fitted with a built-in fridge to ensure sample integrity during transport.
Samples can be submitted during business hours (08h00 to 16h30) during the week or on Saturdays (by prior arrangement). All new/dormant clients should open an account before submitting samples to the laboratory.
Clients can download a sample submission form (or contact our Customer Service Department for a copy) to assist with selecting tests when submitting samples to the laboratory.
